James is a litigator whose practice is focused on representing clients in a wide range of property and estate litigation matters.
He approaches every dispute with strategic insight and careful analysis, turning complexity into actionable, cost-effective and client-centered solutions.
He has obtained successful outcomes before the Court of Appeal for Ontario and the Superior Court of Justice, along with numerous favourable settlements outside of court. James has experience with trials, appeals, applications, motions, mediations, and arbitrations.
James has handled disputes involving real property ownership and title, failed real estate transactions, property damage, title rectification, boundary and easement issues, commercial leasing, contractual disputes, trusts, negligence, fiduciary duties, dependant’s relief, will challenges, powers of attorney, estate administration, among others.
Before his call to the Bar, James clerked for the judges of the Superior Court of Justice and the Divisional Court in Barrie, Newmarket, and Oshawa.
James earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Western Ontario, where he was named to the Dean’s List, became a National Champion and Top Oralist in the Jessup Moot Competition, and served as Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the Western Journal of Legal Studies. As a student, he worked at Lenczner Slaght LLP in Toronto.
After his call to the Bar, James practiced civil litigation at Ross Nasseri LLP in Toronto before joining Friedman Estate Litigation in his hometown of Barrie, Ontario.
